This varnished cherry wood veneer portable radio looks great and produces good sound quality from its digital receiver and single speaker. It also includes a great alarm with a range of natural sounds to help you relax.

With its extendable aerial, it can play both FM and DAB signals, allowing you to listen to a vast array of high quality music. A large memory of 30 presets let you quickly jump between many of your favourite radio stations. It has a headphone jack in case you need to listen without disturbing others, but you can also plug in an iPod to use the radio as a portable speaker.

Also works as a multi-function alarm clock with a sleep timer. The whole handle works as a snooze button.

The alarm has a range of settings, from different alarm times for weekends and weekdays, and different sounds for different alarms (DAB radio, FM Radio, natural sounds or a simple tone).

The natural sounds included in the radio are rhythmic lapping waves, forest rain, birdsong, to relax and simple white noise which is good at reducing the effect of distracting noise.

A really clever feature on this radio is a USB connector. Sometimes, PURE will add extra features to a radio, which you can then download from their website. Simply install the updates via the USB connector, and you have an upgraded radio.

Apart from very good sound quality, DAB has text information in the signal too, which this radio displays on its 16x2 LCD screen.

This means you can see the station, song names and competition phone numbers, while for FM broadcasts, RDS text information is displayed.

You can pause and review the DAB text on the bright OLED screen, and also keep the right time as the radio will automatically update the time based on the DAB signal.

The radio is also eco-friendly and recommended by the Energy Saving Trust.

Its Eco Plus technology means it uses less energy than most of its competition during standby and playback.
